1001196_397175243736472_172141653_nIn July of 2012, Darcee was diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer at the age of 56. She faced complications, hysterectomy and four months of chemotherapy. Now, two years later she’s sharing her story on this blog while working on a devotional to encourage those fighting cancer and their loved ones. She lives in Brookville, Indiana with her husband of 37 years, Pat and their two dogs- Murph and Rango. They find joy in their three grown daughters, son-in-laws and seven grandchildren.

  1. I didn’t know. Great looking family. Had a little run in with C myself. Nothing like what you have been through. You have a great faith. Wanted to talk at the reunion but just didn’t make it before we had to go. Take care MHS buddy.

      • I had Melanoma. A small mole on the back of my ear. Sort of a fluke I caught it. I was at the doctors office about something else and I had noticed it looking a little different so I had him look at it and they did a biopsy and ended up sending me to a plastic surgeon who removed a small piece of my ear. I was told later if I hadn’t found it when I did I wouldn’t be around now to talk about. Really dodged the bullet. Are you in full remission now?

      • I’m two years out from my last chemo treatment. I’m still being scanned and checked every 6 months. I’m not sure what full remission is, but so far so good!
I’m so glad you caught your melanoma early. I lost my brother in law to melanoma.

  2. Sorry about your BIL. I never realized how deadly melanoma was until the doctor told me if I hadn’t caught it I would have been gone before long. Glad to see the girl with the prettiest hair at MHS is doing so well. *S*

  4. I came across this blog today, in need of reading something about faith, God, and hope. Your words really helped me today. Thank you. I notice nothing has been written since 2014. I hope everything is okay with you. God bless!

    • Hey Emily. Mom has had an amazing three years since 2014 but in May of this year her cancer was back. After fighting for the past few months and the cancer only growing and spreading, she has decided against more treatment has been discharged to hospice. We are praying for both a miracle and peace in this ugly awful time. Thank you for your hope and blessing ❤ ❤

  5. God blessings to Pat and his beautiful family during this sorrowful time. My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Murphy family. One of the nicest families from Peru or anywhere. This season of Advent brings hope for eternal life for Darcee and us all.
